Conrad, Joseph SERIES OF FIVE LETTERS TO HENRY TOMLINSON comprising three autograph letters signed, one autograph card signed, and one typed letter signed with autograph corrections and postscript, thanking him for sending his articles and books ("...I have appreciated their graphic power, personal point of view and felicity of expression..."), one letter refusing to write about the sailor turned novelist William Bone ("...I am no good at writing about other men's work...") and another discussing the failure of the dramatisation of The Secret Agent ("...I had a good many letters, from various people whose judgment ought to count, which gave me some pleasure...."), some letters with personal news ("...Our eldest boy was invalided out of the Army yesterday..."), 8 pages, various sizes, Capel House, Orlestone, near Ashford and Oswalds, Bishopsbourne, Kent, 27 January [read in the Collected Letters as July] 1912 to 11 December 1922, nicks and tears, occasional spots and smudges [with:] Conrad, Jessie, three autograph letters signed, on family and personal affairs, 4 pages, various sizes, 6 June-10 September 1918
