Cookery Medals. A collection of 23 Universal Cookery & Food Exhibition prize medals, c.1900-30, comprising 7 silver medals, including a 1922 circular medal engraved “Miss Senn’s Prize”, 40mm diameter, 3 silver-gilt medals and 12 bronze all with original leather case individually dated (Qty: 23) Ida Marguerite Senn (1885-1958) was the daughter of Charles Hermon Senn who was born in Lirstal, Switzerland, in 1864, and died in London, on 18 October 1934. His training in cookery was classical, gained in the cities of Europe and under Francatelli at the Reform Club in London. Senn was involved with the Universal Cookery and Food Association from its inception as the Culinary Society in 1885, first as Honorary Secretary, later as Honorary Director. He edited the association's year-book, The Cookery Annual, from its first publication in 1894.
