Coppard is chiefly celebrated for his contribution to the short story form and the present collection is a testament to his productivity while also providing an insight into his methods of revising, excising and improving his work. While individual manuscript stories by Coppard do appear occasionally at auction, we can trace no similar archive on the open market in recent years.
