Appleton Date: 1860 Description: With 28 total engraved maps (26 are hand-colored), 7 of which are double-page, one full-page map with 17 small city maps; all on 18 map-sheets. 13½x11½, original quarter black leather and pictorially engraved boards. Contains an interesting double-page map of the United States, showing states west of the Mississippi in their earlier configurations, with a large Nebraska Territory extending up through Montana and parts of Idaho, and a large New Mexico with Arizona named but in small letters below. Other double-page maps include: the southern, eastern, southern and western U.S. states; and two different portions of Europe. Lot Amendments Condition: Head of spine and corners bumped, rubbing, stains, edge wear; hinges cracked, toning, foxing, other mild wear; internally very good. Item number: 145169
