Newberry, 1767. 4 o (280 x 222 mm). Half-title, errata leaf. 2 full-page diagrams on one leaf, diagrams in text. Original boards, uncut, partially unopened (worn). Provenance : H. Bateman (contemporary ownership signature on half-title); Harrison D. Horblit (bookplate; his sale Sotheby's London, 11 June 1974, lot 249). FIRST EDITION. Costard's history was designed to show students how to research and investigate astronomy and served as a collection of problems illustrating the application of astronomy to history, geography, and other forms of science.
