cover 1884 (5 June) envelope registered to Somerset East, Cape Colony, bearing 1d. red partially severed pair, Types 3 and 4, in upper right corner, cancelled "½oz" and "5/6/84" in manuscript, and a further 1d., Type 7, at lower left corner similarly dated, in combination with Transvaal 1883 Re-issue 1d. black cancelled with magenta pen cross and 3d. red pair and a single cancelled "6" at Christiana; the cover additionally bearing ruby-coloured "REGISTERED" label tied by framed "REGISTERED/TRANSVAAL N O " h.s. numbered "334" , Christiana and Somerset East July 15 c.d.s. on reverse. The 1d. black and one 3d. originally affixed over the edge of the cover and subsequently unfolded for the purposes of presentation. The cover has subsequently been repaired to bring it to it's present condition. A few faults in places though remarkable and spectacular, being the earliest and only registered cover from Stellaland. Signed "A Diena" and accompanied by A.P.S. Certificate (1990). Photo
