cover -- 1884-91 covers or cards, and small pieces etc (103), the fine collection of Hoster Machine cancellations, arranged by types and neatly annotated in a Godden album, and is based on the collection originally formed by G R Crouch. It includes a fine range of the normal types, together with an example of the rare "CHARING CROSS" (on 1885 envelope to Edinburgh, with filing note at left), "N.P.B." (complete on small piece), and the rare "OFFL.PAID" datestamp without bars (complete in red on small piece, and a part-strike on the reverse of a postal card which also shows a normal Hoster cancellation, stated to the latest reported date). Also a German postal card of 1885, showing the similar Hoster machine cancellation of Berlin. (147 items)
