Official envelope, double registered, from the 4th section of 1st Battalion of 1st Corps of the 1st Division of the 5th Army at Ning Tu and addressed "Please hand over to Chi Wen-hsu at Hsiao Tung, via Shih Tang, via the Northern Mei Hsien sub district, via Ping Chiang Hsien in Hunan; care of Managing Department of Eastern Kiangsi" , bearing on the reverse, a vertical pair of 8c. blue cancelled by an unclear strike of the despatch c.d.s., other transit marks include Ching Tbu c.d.s., Shih Hui Chiao c.d.s.. Yung Yang railway station c.d.s., Ao Cheng railway station datestamp and the handstamp of Ning Tu collection and delivery department. The sender was keen this should arrive safely and has endorsed the back of the envelope "anxiously awaiting reply" and "hoping not to lose" . A rare and charming cover, only nine have been recorded.
