Portraits show men, women, and children holding or posed alongside various props and accessories, including books, decorative furniture, and personal accessories. Several subjects appear with hats, including a young woman holding a floral trimmed hat, pictured in a well-composed tintype with an outdoor backdrop, as well as a young boy in a gingham tunic, who poses alongside a table topped with cloth cap, credited to Judkins. Other portraits show subjects with books, such as a sixth plate daguerreotype of a bearded man with a pocket watch chain and a sixth plate ambrotype of a young couple, identified as "Cornelius Clarke and wife / Helen E. Clarke / Taken Oct. 1858," posed with a small book or album.
