DANIELL, William (1769-1837). Interesting Selections from Animated Nature with Illustrative Scenery, London: "Printed at the Free-School, Gower's Walk, Whitechapel", [1809-11]. 2 volumes, oblong 4° (342 x 262mm). 121 aquatint plates by William Daniel, all proofs before letters, those numbered 59 - 121 laid down, hinged throughout. (Occasional light spotting and browning.) Contemporary calf gilt (rebacked with old spines, some scuffing and rubbing to extremities). Provenance : John Tyrrell (armorial bookplate). IMPORTANT PRESENTATION COPY, both volumes inscribed in pencil by the artist, "Proof impressions - W. Daniell. There is not a second [another] copy like this. W.D." Each of the plates is captioned in pencil in a similar hand and numbered in ink. Further early pencil inscriptions on the front free endpaper of each volume read: "2 Vols. with Proof illustrations (unique). See Mr. Daniell's autograph opposite. This fine copy was made up by Mr. Wm. Daniell for the late Mr Tyrrell regardless of expense, which must have been very great!" (with slight variations in volume II). Brunet II, 488; Freeman 904; Nissen ZBI 1040 (calling for 120 plates only) (2)
