DECKER, Paul, the Elder (1677-1713), and others. Repraesentatio Belli, ob successionem in Regno Hispanico. Augsburg: [c. 1720]. Broadsheet (550 x 430mm). Engraved title in Latin and German, 2pp. letterpress text in German, 56 plates after Decker, Georg Philip Rugendas and others. (Lower margin of final plate extended.) Contemporary sheep (worn). Provenance : inscription 'Leipsig.. 29 Febr 1736'. A fine copy of this highly decorative series celebrating the victories of Austria, some of the German states, Great Britain, Holland, Denmark and Portugal, in the War of the Spanish Succession, 1700-1713, which ended with the Treaties of Utrecht and Rastatt. Most of the plates include a central section with a representation of a particular event, this central section is surrounded by a wide rococo border incorporating a panel with explanatory text in German, and a small panel containing a map or plan of the area in which the event in the main panel took place.
