Loose under modern percaline portfolio. Interesting account of an "exercise camp" which took place over a fortnight in January near Delhi. Pictured are a.o.: "Sir F. Roberts with foreign officers at Pan pat", "Seizur of Alipur Pontoon by Guides Cavalry", "13th Bengal Lancers", "Watering horses at Badli Ka Sarai", "Ammunition wagons on the march", "Troops returning to Delhi", etc. The manoeuvres, on a much larger scale than previously held, culminated in an at the time huge march of 35,men from British and Indian units in front of Lord Dufferin. Deen Dayal was appointed by the government to capture this flamboyant event. Here present are photographs from a commemorative album showing the capability of Deen Dayal who entered the field of elite photography from the 1880s. He was the first Indian in the field to gain international fame and recognition which makes his career both exceptional and unique.
