Très bel exemplaire du premier livre illustré par Maurice Denis The Artist & the Book 1860-1960, n°76 : "Here Denis best achieved his goal in book illustration, which he considered to be the decoration of a book, without servitude to the text, but with an embroidery of arabesques on the pages, an accompaniement of expressive lines. This little known item is a masterpiece of Art Nouveau, the style of the nineties to which the graphic work of Denis and the Nabis made an important contribution". In-8 carré (202 x 192 mm). 30 lithographies originales en couleurs de Maurice Denis l'une reproduite en noir sur la couverture (légers reports des lithographies). Reliure en maroquin brun janséniste de Dubois d'Enghien-Dooms, doublure de maroquin havane avec encadrement de maroquin brun et filet doré, garde et doubles gardes de papier marbré brun, tête dorée sur témoins, couverture et dos conservés.
