Duffield Belonging to the Townes of Belper and Headge Taken Ao Domn 1701 to a scale of 60 chains to 7ins. and covering 1157 acres 2 rods and 24 perches, orientated West/East, individual buildings represented in three dimensions, the plans of Belper and Heage being amongst the earliest known, 51cm x 63.5cm; a hand-drawn and coloured map of Belper, fabric backed paper, being an element of the Parliamentary Inclosure Act 1786, the chief beneficiary of which was the Strutt family. The plan was made in the wake of the Award, where common land was allocated on a pro-rata basis to existing freeholders, 88.5cm x 68cm; a plan of the extension to the graveyard at Duffield Parish Church with numbered plots dated June 1867, on fabric backed paper to a scale of 10 ft. to 1 inch, 95.3 x 54cm (3) Reference: A similar but slightly earlier map of Belper and Heage, dated 1698 is in the collections at Derbyshire Record Office (D5875) as is similar map to that of Belper (D1473 & D1564/1, 34.75) Read more
