Three quarter blue morocco over blue cloth, spine with raised bands in five compartments, second and fourth gilt-lettered, others with double gilt-rules and gilt hunting and angling motif, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers; extremities rubbed, corners bumped, some nicks to morocco. In quarter red morocco clamshell case. First edition, first impression, bearing Connett’s bookplate and annotations, which update and expand upon a handful of passages. There is also a charming undated letter laid into the volume, written by Connett's nephew, Theodore T. Everitt, Jr. Bruns C-152; Heller 471; Phillips 84-85 — Heywood, Gerald G.P.
