Three days of festivities, supervised by Don Girolamo Trutta as Maestro di Cerimonia, celebrated the return of Charles de Bourbon, king of Naples and Sicily, from a voyage throughout his kingdom. Theatricals, music and dances as well as fire-and waterworks were staged, and the elaborate pier for his disembarkation was built by the royal engineer Niccolò Tagliacozzi Canale. Vinet 602.
