(Design at Home with Mark Hill - Pure Evil Gallery, London, 7th April 2019) Yaacov Agam b. 1928 David Ben Gurion portfolio,1985, screenprint on paper, agamograph, edition 288 / 540, signed and numbered to the lower edge of each sheet, each work is numbered 288 from the edition of 540 published by Georges Israel, Tel Aviv. (10 in total - 2 screenprints missing) Yaacov Agam was born in Rishon LeZion, Palestine (now Israel), he studied at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem under Mordecai Ardon in 1946, he then moved to Zurich, then Paris. While in Zurich he was influenced by artist, teacher and Bauhaus enthusiast Johannes Itten He also found inspiration in Vasily Kandinsky. His first solo exhibition was at the Galerie Craven in Paris in 1953, entitled Peintures en Mouvement (Paintings in movement). In 1955 he participated in the seminal shown Le Mouvemente at Galerie Denise Rene alongside other kinetic artists including Alexander Calder Jesus Rafael Soto and Carlos Cruz-Diez in 2017 The Yaacov Agam Museum of Art opened in the artist's home town, housing the largest collection of his art in the world.
