The companion figure was probably made at the behest of the manufactory and was delivered in April 1932 at a purchase price of RM 1,500; the models were re-worked by Scheurich in Meissen in June 1932. Due to the adverse economic conditions, the manufactory was operating at reduced capacity so that the first porcelain examples were finished at the beginning of 1933. The forced departure of Max Adolf Pfeiffer from the manufactory in 1933 soured its relationship with Scheurich and he did not respond to repeated requests to design the colouring for the two figures; he only did so following the appointment of Wolfgang Müller von Baczko as Director in 1937.
