Pen-and-ink sketch, 'Charles Dickens reading a chapter from Nicholas Nickleby in the 60s', signed 'AR', in an album containing 81 sketches, the majority dated 1865-1867, caricatures and scenes both domestic and on tours of Ireland, Scotland and the Continent, various sizes, 20th-century half brown morocco. Provenance . William Foyle (bookplate). A note on the title page incorrectly attributes the drawings to 'Ann Radcliffe Author of Mysteries of Udolpho' (she died in 1823). [ with ] [BUDDHISM]. Manuscript notebook, in an unidentified early 20th Century hand, containing notes of reading on the cultures, monuments and history of South-East Asia, with particular reference to India and Buddhism, approximately 70 pages, 4to , bound with 9 watercolour drawings, showing the Taj Mahal and Indian costumes, 20th-century cloth. Provenance . William Foyle (bookplate). [ and ] [St John CRYSOSTOM].
