Etched frontispiece, vignette title-page and 38 plates by Hablot K. Browne ["Phiz"] (vignette title remargined at gutter with repair along outer margin, some occasional spotting, some plates darkened at edges). Original blue-green pictorial printed wrappers (some soiling, some chipping along edges and spines, some spines rebacked, a few wrappers repaired); red cloth chemise and quarter morocco slipcase. Provenance : J.A. Ikin, Esq. (signature on front wrapper of parts 19 and 20); Rossetti (ink signature on inside back wrapper of part 18); Kenyon Starling (bookplate). FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL MONTHLY PARTS, the vignette title-page with the signpost reading "100£", and first issue of the errata with 13 lines. "The Chuzzlewit Advertiser" present in all parts, as well as most of the inserted advertisements called for by Hatton & Cleaver. Hatton & Cleaver, pp.183-212; Eckel, pp.71-73.
