A Voyage Round the World; but More Particularly to the North-West Coast of America: Performed in 1785, 1786, 1787, and 1788, in the King George and Queen Charlotte, Captains Portlock and Dixon. London: George Goulding, 1789. 4to (273 x 215 mm). xxix, [3], 360, 47 pp. Large folding map, 21 engraved maps and plates (7 of which are folding), engraved sheet of music. Contemporary tree calf, rebacked with new endpapers. Mild to moderate foxing and offsetting, creasing to folding map, upper cover detached, wear to edges. FIRST EDITION detailing this expedition to establish a fur trade in North America. Dixon completed a more detailed map of the Northwest American coast than that of Cook. The Queen Charlotte visited Hawaii three times and the narrative includes much of interest on the chiefs and political atmosphere of the period. About 2 pages of Hawaiian vocabulary are included.
