Original decorated yellow wrappers. Condition: minor wear to original glassine wrappers. One of 600 copies. Lithuanian-born M. V. Dobuzhinsky was one of the founding members of Mir Iskusstva [World of Art] group and an important illustrator of the Silver Age. He was also Vladimir Nabokov’s drawing teacher. He left for Lithuania after the Revolution and emigrated to England and finally settled in the United States where he died. This newly illustrated edition of Pushkin’s famous novel in verse was issued to commemorate the centenary of the poet’s death in a duel.
