A RARE TWELVE BOTTLE CASE OF ROMANEE-CONTI GRAND CRU 1988 A rare opportunity to acquire a twelve-bottle original case of Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 1988. All wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti are highly sought-after, but particularly from their most famous “jewel in the crown” vineyard that the eponymous Domaine is named after. 1988 was a highly regarded vintage for red Burgundy with both Robert Parker and Michael Broadbent MW comparing it favourably alongside 1985. Comparing those two successful vintages of the 1980’s, of the 1988 vintage Michael Broadbent MW wrote that the 1988 wines were “firmer, tannic and are now, in my opinion, superior." and when he tasted Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 1988 in 1991 he rated it 5 stars and commented that it was “a powerhouse with great future". Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti 1988 Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits In original wooden case. Banded prior to specialist inspection. Original straws. Consecutive bottle numbers: 04799-04810. Leroy slip labels. Oxidised capsules. One very slightly damaged capsule. Green roundels on labels. Excellent label conditions except for one stained and damaged label. Levels: two 2cms, one 2.5cms, eight 3cms and one 4cms 12 bottles per lot
