DONIZETTI, Gaetano (1797-1848). Autograph letter signed ('Donizetti') to an unidentified recipient ('Monsieur'), Paris, 1 September 1845, saying that [Eugène] Scribe is still in the country but as soon as he comes back Donizetti will be able to ask what he thinks of his correspondent's suggestion, 'à peine arrivé il me sera facile d'entendre ce qu'il pense de tout cela, et de vous donner une réponse plus cathégorique', one page, 8vo , annotated at head, apparently by recipient, 'From the celebrated composer, Donizetti, with whom I was then in treaty for his Opera of The Duke D'Alba ' (slight discolouration to corners, traces of adhesive on verso).
