Lot of 4 gelatin silver prints, 8 x 10 in., partially comprising the "Migrant Mother" series of 6 images made by Dorothea Lange (American, 1895-1965) in February or March of 1936 of Florence Owens Thompson and her children in Nipomo, CA. This collection features the closer, more intimate views of the Thompson family, without the two remaining wide-angle views of their tent. The consignor relates that these prints were produced from the original negatives, ca mid-20th century, and acquired directly from a former employee of the Library of Congress, who worked with the institution in the 1960s.
