Fletcher Robinson hinted that he suggested the plot of the Hound of the Baskervilles to Doyle, and helped write the story. Doyle, in this letter, defends his authorship: "I think the facts are stated in the preface. I wrote every word of the book. We talked over some points of the plot. The original idea of a haunted family came from him."
