Title: Dramatic Romances - bound by Willa St. George Moore of the Guild of Women Binders Author: Browning, Robert Place: London Publisher: Hacon & Ricketts Date: 1899 Description: 121, [2] pp. (8vo) 22.5x13.5 cm (9x5¼") full tan calf embossed borders and decorations, wide dentelles, top edge gilt and gauffered. One of 210 copies. Superbly bound by Willa St. George Moore of the Guild of Women Binders [see "The Private Library, The Guild of Women Binders," by Ainslie C. Waller] with the Guild's gilt stamp in lower front dentelle and Moore's monogram impressed in lower rear dentelle, "W. St. G. M." A superb example of an impressed, moulded binding made, here featuring a scene from Browning's poem, "How They Brought the Good News from Ghent to Aix," which appears on p. 59 in the text. Attractive Vale Press edition with decorative title and initials throughout by Charles Ricketts. Also, with Guild's Charing Cross Road binder's ticket at end. Extremely scarce signed binding by Willa Moore of the Guild of Women Binders. Lot Amendments Condition: Spine a touch sunned, endpapers browned at edges from contact with the leather of the dentelles; slight separation in gutter at half title; very good. Item number: 274708
