Dylan Lewis (South African, b. 1964) Trans Figure II Bronze, signed to the maquette and numbered edition 3/8 118cm high, 130cm wide, 65cm deep excluding plinth On view at: The Sculpture Park South-African sculptor Dylan Lewis was born in Johannesburg, studied in Cape Town including under painter Ryno Swart, and is now based at a farm in more rural Stellenbosch, where he has his studio and foundry. These premises, which also house a scenic sculpture park, were opened by HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. The subjects of Lewis works, portrayed in dynamic poses, often appear to be in transition, caught in stages between human and animal, male and female. During recent years, Lewis has had exhibitions at Christies South Kensington, Everard Read Gallery as well as a solo presentation at Masterpiece 2014, in association with John Martin Gallery. A maquette for the present model was recently sold at Bonhams London, 12 September, 2018, lot 55
