An Art Nouveau enamel and diamond brooch with two medals with female heads set with green enamel and rose-cut diamonds, mounted in 18k gold. L. app. 4 cm. Circa 1900. Émile-Séraphin Vernier (16 October 1852 – 9 September 1927) was a French sculptor, metal worker, engraver and medalist. He was president of the Société des artistes décorateurs from 1905 to 1910. He was one of the first to apply the techniques of medal engraving to making jewellery.
