Title: East of the Sun and West of the Moon: Old Tales from the North Author: Nielsen, Kay, illustrator Place: London Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton Date: [c.1914] Description: With 25 tipped-in color plates by Kay Nielsen, including frontispiece, many black and white illustrations throughout. 11x8¾, old recasing retaining front and rear cover cloth, and pictorial paper label, new endpapers, gilt spine. First Nielsen Illustrated Edition, trade issue. Inscribed on front blank leaf :"(To?) my dear friend F.S. Church / (From?) Julia Ellsworth Ford" (first word of each line of the inscription is obliterated). Julia Ellsworth Ford was a contemporary of Kay Nielsen and author of several children's books, including 2 illustrated by Arthur Rackham Lot Amendments Condition: Covers moderately scuffed; first page of Preface loose and brittle; several pages and plate margins soiled, good.
