C'est ce dernier qui explique le succès de ce motif du coq dans la production de céramiques artistiques durant la seconde moitié du XIXème siècle. After ten years of apprenticeship (from 1870 until 1880) in the Deck brother's factory, around 1890 Edmond Lachenal became influenced by the surrounding Japanese style of the period. This explains the success of the cock motif in artistic ceramics during the second half of the 19th century.
