Gallery, New York 2011 Private collection, Melbourne OTHER NOTES: Edward Ruscha is an American born artist associated with the Pop Art movement. His multi-faceted practice includes works that range from printmaking, photography, drawing, painting and moving image. Through clever imagery and placement, Ruscha fuses pop art, comics, graphic design and Hollywood film culture together, creating a unique aesthetic which has seen him successfully re-invent his art for more than five decades. His work was exhibited in what is known as the first Pop Art exhibition in America, showing with Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol in 1962 at the Pasadena Art Museum, California. Ruscha is represented in many public collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and also represented the USA at the Venice Biennale in 1970.
