Title: Elaborate leather case for a pair of miniature books Author: Nakao, Osami Place: Japan Publisher: Date: 1980s Description: Elaborate and charming custom case for a pair of miniature books, constructed of thick leather panels with contrasting leather onlays, decoratively tooled in blind on all sides, including the bottom, arched top, the front with a banner reading "Miniature Book" above an arched pair of doors. When open the doors reveal a custom two compartment space for a pair of books. Approximately 4¾(h) x 3¾(w) x3(d)". Presumably this was made for a particular pair of books but their identity is unknown, it is a charming construction nonetheless and surely a suitable pair of volumes would not be too difficult to obtain. The openings are approximately 2¼" tall and ¾" wide and with a maximum depth of about 2". Custom-made by Osami Nakao for the Lilliput Oval Saloon. Lot Amendments Condition: Minor wear, the left door is lacking its handle; near fine. Item number: 276584
