Extremely rare Russian edition of Musschenbroek's Elementa Physica, first published in Latin in 1726, which played an important part in the transmission of Isaac Newton's ideas in physics to Europe. There is no separate title-page, apparently as issued. Pieter van Musschenbroek was born on 14 March 1692 in Leiden, Holland, the son of a maker of scientific instruments. He is remembered today for his work in electrostatics, and the invention of the Leyden jar, named for his city of origin. No copies offered at auction in the past twenty-five years, including Russian auctions. Only a few copies exist in Russian institutional libraries.
