Eleven Unframed German Old Master Engravings: Ten by Hans Sebald Beham (1500-1550), Miscellaneous Subjects, most monogrammed in the plates, some dated, posthumous impressions or copies, sizes to 3 x 2 in., most with collector's stamp "Dr. Herweg; and Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), The Peasant Couple Dancing, monogrammed and dated "1514" in the plate, a late impression, 4 1/2 x 3 in., Bartsch 90, Hollstein & Meder 88. Condition: Toning, staining, trimmed to plate marks. N.B. The primary collector's stamp refers to Dr. Karl Herweg (1914-2002), of Recklinghausen, Germany, who was a specialist in occupational medicine and who began collecting Old Master prints about 1950, with a particular focus on German and Dutch Renaissance works. The majority of his collection was sold by Sotheby's London in 2003 and 2004. Some of the Beham engravings bear other collector's marks as well, including G.W. Brooke of Geneva, Switzerland, Heinrich Stiebel of Frankfurt, Germany, and Max Egon, prince of Fürstenberg.
