Emilio Sanchez-Perrier (Spanish, 1855-1907) In the Rowboat Signed "E Sanchez Perrier" l.r. Oil on panel, 22 x 18 in. (55.9 x 45.7 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, staining/surface grime. N.B. Sevillian native, Sanchez Perrier, is best known for his beautifully detailed Barbizon-style landscapes of France and Spain. He first began to study the work of Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot in the 1880's and his paintings highlight the naturalism of the Barbizon School. The precision and photographic exactitude of his work evokes the work of the Academic Masters. Although he was born and trained in Spain, Sanchez-Perrier spent long periods of time living and working in France. Upon returning to Spain, he founded a landscape painter's colony in Alcalá de Guadaira with Jiménez Aranda and Manuel García Rodríguez
