Beschreibung:

Emily Gernild (b. 1985, lives and works in Copenhagen) “The Moon is Upon Us”, 2020. Signed Emily Gernild, 17/125. Lithograph on 300 g. Velin d’Arches paper. Sheet size 69×50 cm. The framing is donated by Rammefabrikken, Gl. Kongevej. Emily Gernild's artistic practice is centered around a contemporary dissemination of the still life genre. The works often appear as visually appealing paraphrases over the genre still life and the classic Vanitas flower motif. The works can be characterized by their high level of sensitivity. The surface can often be identified by its formal rhythm and contrasting colors. Using color, light and volume, she emphasizes details and individual parts. The work moves closely to where the original motif completely dissolves, and the components of the images and their mutual dynamics take over.
