ENGLAND v. AUSTRALIA, 1926. A Herbert Sutcliffe bat by Myers Hall, the face with manuscipt heading "Australia v. (Several of the Australian signatures are rubbed and faded, a few small chips to face of bat, rubber grip perished.) England won the Ashes for the first time since 1912 by winning the final match; the other matches in this series were drawn. C. G. Macartney finished the tour with a Test average of 94.60, the top average of either batting side, but the bowling partnership of Grimmett and Mailey proved less sucessful.
