ENGLAND v. AUSTRALIA, 1926. A Herbert Sutcliffe bat by Myers Hall, the face with manuscipt heading "Australia v. England, 1926" and with parallel autographs of the Australian touring side (16 signatures) and England team (12 signatures). (Several of the Australian signatures are rubbed and faded, a few small chips to face of bat, rubber grip perished.) England won the Ashes for the first time since 1912 by winning the final match; the other matches in this series were drawn. C. G. Macartney finished the tour with a Test average of 94.60, the top average of either batting side, but the bowling partnership of Grimmett and Mailey proved less sucessful.
