An engraving depicting two festive parades held in Jewish communities in Germany in 1716, in honor of the birth of Leopold Johan, son of the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Karl VI - a leaf from the book "Jüdische Merckwürdigkeiten" by Johann Jacob Schudt. [Frankfurt am Main, 1718]. After the birth of the son of Emperor Karl VI in 1716, festivities were held in different towns around the Roman Empire. This engraving depicts two parades held as part of these festivities, one by the Jewish communitiy in Prague, and the other by the Frankfurt Jewish communitiy. Seen in the Prague parade are the figures of Moses and Aaron; a figure holding a Star of David; a group of people raising a flag (with a wrong writing in Hebrew of the word "Flag"), and other typical Jewish characteristics. Enclosed is an additional leaf fron this book. [1] leaf, approx. 19X15 cm. Slight creases. Two pieces of paper pasted to the of the leaf, at margins.
