ERNEST ARTHUR HODGKINSON (BRITISH, BORN 1883), Edwardian and later manuscript, pen, ink and watercolour, pen and ink and photograph albums including MY HOLIDAY IN NORTH HOLLAND, 1905, containing finely executed manuscript, pen, ink and watercolour title page + 29 leaves of mainly finely executed pen, ink and watercolour paintings including a distant view of Zaandam; entrance to Volendam Harbour; a Volendam windmill, drainage mills, the north end of Volendam on the right; Volendam girls; a Volendamer; a Marken family, the Dutch cheese market Alkmaar; Edam; on the Zaan; a view at Broek etc etc, the vast majority of paintings with manuscript borders and captions and signed in initials, signed and inscribed by the artist to front paste down “Ernest A Hodgkinson, Nottingham 1905” with small manuscript pen and ink sketch of windmill, oblong, contemporary buckram backed blue cloth with author and title in gilt, together with a photograph album compiled by Ernest Arthur Hodgkinson: THE “ACASTA” OF MENGHAM CREEK, containing 23 mounted monochrome photographs circa 1912 with manuscript pen and ink borders and captions, images include members of the sailing party aboard the boat captioned “Three men on the boat to say nothing of the dog!!”, “on the “Gnome” Emsworth”, “Ward’s End – Mengham Creek”, “Low Tide Mengham”, “Sandy Point, a threatening storm cloud”, “Hayling Woods”, “The Quay, Mengham”, “South Creek Hayling Island”, “Emsworth Hants”, “Langston Hants”, “On the Midshipmite”, “Entering Chichester Harbour” etc, oblong, original cloth gilt + VAGABONDS IN THE COTSWOLDS, album of manuscript original finely executed pen and ink drawings and manuscript pen and ink letterpress by E A Hodgkinson, 94 pages manuscript numbered in pencil, finely executed manuscript pen, ink and watercolour title page, pen and ink drawings of the country between Hayles and Stanway; Stanton; Sapperton; Painswick Church and Beacon; near the Roman Roads around Cirencester; Burford; Arlington; Bibury; Chipping Campden; Churn Valley; Windrush Valley; Chedworth; etc etc, oblong, finely bound morocco, gilt ruled and titled by Cox & Allen of Cambridge, inner dentelles gilt, all edges gilt (3)
