Lot of 20 CDVs, including several portraits of identified royal figures, artists and other personalities. Images include: Queen Victoria and Albert, credited to Mayall, London. Queen Victoria by J.W. Black, Boston. Prince Albert, credited to Joubert, Bayswater, W. 2 cartes of Louis IV, Grand Duke of Hesse, by Mayall, London. Portrait of 2 dapper men, possibly members of the royal family, although unidentified, backmark reads, "Under the Patronage of H.M. The Queen, Poulton, 352, Strand, W.C." Studio carte of two women, with modern pencil identification on reverse, "Mrs. Casling and Daughter." Imprint of "By Appointment to her Majesty, Hills & Saunders, Eton, also at Oxford Cambridge Harrow London." Studio carte of three unidentified women, backmark of J. Robertson Glasgow and Bothwell Bridge House. H.R.H. Princess Helena, credited to Hughes, Isle of Wright. John Bright, British Prime Minister, credited to Maujean, Paris. Lord John Russell Prime Minister, credited to Mayall, London. 2 cartes of aged men with penciled identifications difficult to decipher, possibly British statesmen, credited to L. Caldesi & Co. and Mayall, London. Lord Gray, credited to Disderi & Co., Paris. Jérôme Bonaparte, credited to Disderi & Co., Paris. French artist Horace Vernet by Bingham, Paris. Italian General Giuseppe Garibaldi, image after painting published by Duroni & Murer, Milan. Portrait of woman tentatively identified in pencil on verso as "Queen of Portugal," credited to E. Di Chanaz, Torino. Portrait of woman pencil identified on verso as "Miss Eastman," by Willoughby. Prince Christian and his wife, of Denmark, credited to "F. Deron, Bruxelles." Condition: Wear typical considering age. Most have undergone toning. Few with light corner, edgewear to mount. Garibaldi carte with chip in print near top left corner.
