Exceptional French Marble & Bronze Mantle Clock. Bronze case with figure of a robed maiden and nude putti standing below the clock case with an open aperture having a glass panel exposing the swinging pendulum; the bronze tube contains the clock with ribbon crest and hanging garland on the sides, on a white marble base with gilt bronze filigree mounts. 4.25 in. porcelain dial with black hour numbers, painted floral garland, pierced gilt brass hands and bronze hinged door bezel with convex crystal; typical round French brass 8 day spring driven movement signed "Japy Freres" with half hour strike on a gong. Rear glass is cracked; clock winds and runs, strike spring is wound tight and does not strike. 15.5 in. high x 8.75 in. wide x 5.25 in. deep. Weight: 25 lbs.
