New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1935. First edition. Signed by Byrd on an inserted leaf. 8vo, publisher's gilt-lettered blue cloth, dust jacket. Laid-in is the Authorized Map of the Second Byrd Antarctica Expedition, distributed by General Foods Co., in 1934, and designed by George Annand, in color. Map (44.45 x 58.42 cm) Estimate $ 200-400 a) very good, inked 1938 inscription on free endpaper; dj is chipped at head of spine ( affecting the title and author), long tears on front and rear panels repaired with cellophane tape. b) the dust jacket has a large chip in the spine title; the exposed cloth underneath has darkened, rear hinge has short splits at tips; the map has tears at the fold
