Nicholson Date: 1854 Description: Executive Document from the House of Representatives, 33rd Congress, 1st Session. xv, [1]-286 pp. 65 plates, one folding (Botany plate XVIII not published, as issued). (8vo) original dark, embossed cloth. Ownership signature of G. T. Beauregard on front free endpaper, "G. T. Beauregard. Corps of Engineers. New Orleans. La.” Beauregard was the first brigadier general in the Confederate army, and started the Civil War by leading the attack on Fort Sumter in April, 1861. Three months after that he commanded and won the First Battle of Bull Run. Jenkins Basic Texas Books 135. Howes M276. Sabin 44512.
