Beschreibung:

The straw filled short mohair bear with black boot button eyes lined with red felt, pointed snout with brown horizontally stitched nose and claws, pronounced hump to back and jointed at shoulders and hips, tan felt paw pads, (lacks stitching to mouth and felt to three paw pads, fourth pad with holes, tear to right upper leg and two tiny holes to arms and one to tummy), On April 14th 1912 the passenger liner Titanic was sailing towards New York on her maiden transatlantic voyage when she struck an iceberg off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada, and sank with the loss of 1,513 lives. The whole of England was plunged into mourning and Steiff responded by producing black mohair bears to mourn the disaster. Within weeks they were displayed in shop windows throughout London and sold out very quickly. Only 1,214 black mourning bears of this type were made. 30cm (12in) tall.
