Provenance : Richard Arlen (1899-1976) American actor ("Jobyna & Richard Arlen, 10025 Toluca Lakes, N. Hollywood" ownership inscription on verso of front free endpaper). FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, first state dust jacket with the "mosquitoes" design. Faulkner's satirical second novel about the residents of a New Orleans artistic colony who embark on a four-day yachting cruise. From the Library of Richard Arlen who is best known for his role as a pilot in the Academy Award-winning Wings (1927). He appeared in more than 100 motion pictures. Richard Arlen meet the silent movie start Jobyna Ralston on the set for Wings . They divorced in 1945. Massey 154; Petersen A4.1a.
