As the inscription notes, the composition was also engraved by Francesco Villamena most unusually, in the same sense as the drawing and the painting. C
On the reverse is a partial drawing of a Pieta, pricked for transfer. Hinged with white tape at upper left and right to the cardboard mount. There is a sharp fold running horizontally acaross the sheet passing through the raised left hand and the right upper arm of St. John. There is a tear in the paper roughly 2 inches long, running over the saint's right shoulder. A small tear along the upper right edge; a few spots of foxing.
