Author: Blitz, Antonio Place: Hartford Publisher: Belknap & Bliss Date: 1871 Description: 432 pp. Steel-engraved frontispiece portrait and 16 wood-engraved plates and numerous text illustrations. 8x5, original green cloth stamped in gilt & black. First Edition. The English-born Blitz travelled widely, but this very diverting account of his career is set mostly in the United States, Canada, and the West Indies. He was best known as a ventriloquist and produced two books on the art; he also often amused himself in offstage practical jokes.
