Place: Rye, NY Publisher: Privately Printed [for the author by the Country Life Press] Date: 1940 Description: [6], 245 pp. Illustrated from photographs and facsmiles, including a tipped-in color frontispiece from a painting and a map of the golf course by H. B. Martin; decorative map endpapers. 10x7½, green and white cloth, lettered in gilt, top edge gilt. No. 137 of 500 hand-numbered copies inscribed with member's name, George Greer, on the limitation page. First Edition. An attractively produced history of this famous golf club, which boasts the creation of the U.S. Seniors Golf Association and its inaugural tournament of 1905. It was also known for giving away the 1911 U.S. Amateur title to England for the first time (won by Harold Hilton in one of golf's most celebrated shots). Donovan & Murdoch 12940; Murdoch 146.5. Lot Amendments Condition: Soiling, shelf wear, small rubs, minor red stain to bottom page edge; contents intact, very good or better. Item number: 162009
