Figure en porcelaine représentant un enfant chinois dansant, Meissen, circa 1926-1933 A Meissen figure of a dancing Chinese boy (Tanzender Chinesenknabe), circa 1926-1933Modelled by Paul Scheurich his left arm and left leg raised, wearing a white cloak, green tunic with puce buttons, white trousers and iron-red slippers, on an octagonal base edged with a gilt line, 17.4cm high, crossed swords mark with dot between the hilts in underglaze-blue and two incised cancellation marks, incised model number A 1142, impressed 'Bossierer' numeral 115 and painter's numeral 74 in puceFootnotesLiterature: Rafael 1995a, ill. 23 (left) Exhibited: Meissen, Schauhalle der Staatlichen Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, Paul Scheurich 1883-1945 Porzellane für die Meissener Manufaktur, 21 September 1995-10 January 1996; Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 Along with his other models depicting Chinese figures, the figure of the dancing Chinese boy was completed before Scheurich fell ill in August 1923. Max Adolf Pfeiffer purchased the model from Käthe Scheurich on 17 April 1926 for RM 1,200. The figure was sold in white from the beginning of 1927 and coloured from April; 48 figures had been sold by the end of 1931.
